Nelson Tasman Regional Arts Strategy - The Art of Being at the Centre
The strategy comprises a ten-year vision with a three-year action plan for the arts sector, containing key issues, its viability and its future.
Arts Consultant - Helen Schamroth, Creationz Consultants
Nationally recognised arts consultant Helen Schamroth of Creationz Consultants was appointed as the consultant to develop the Nelson Tasman Regional Arts Strategy. Helen has been awarded Officer of New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the arts, and has wide ranging experience including developing arts strategies and policies, as well as working with artists and the community. Helen is a practising artist and writer and has been an advisor, manager and member on many arts initiatives such as the Council of the Designers Institute of New Zealand, Artists Alliance and The Big Idea website.
The Arts Strategy working party consisted of representatives from:
- Nelson Regional EDA
- Nelson City Council
- Tasman District Council
- Nelson Bays Arts Marketing Trust
- Representatives of the arts sector
- Canterbury Community Trust
Who Contributed?
Consultation in developing the strategy occurred with representation from the visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, new media arts, youth focussed arts, jewellers, potters, sculptors, furniture makers, writers and other groups and individuals with an interest in the arts.
