Arts - Year 9 Visual Art

Students undertake a community based art project and produce a mural for Richmond kindergarten. Students worked in groups to develop concepts through to final design with guidance from their teacher. Download

Arts - Visual Art Y11-13 Art Cards

Students select images from their Art Portfolio's and use photoshop to create images for greeting cards. Cards are produced and marketed to family and friends, and sold in display boxes at Art outlets. Download

NEW Arts - Year 13 Drama

Students organise and perform an evening show "Waiora" at The Suter theatre. Preparation included investigating related Maori culture, interviewing playwright Hone Kouka and a visit to the local marae. Download
 

Broadgreen Y7 & Y8 Expo Day

Students organise, lead and mentor Year 6 students through a thinking and co-operative learning activity using ICT as the tool. Download
 

NEW Cross-Curricular 2 Day E4E Project: Year 10 - "Taking Nelson Apples to the World"

Students design, produce, package and market a product, using locally grown apples. The two day project ends with presentations to an expert panel, as for a simulated international Trade Fair.  Download
 

English & Drama Y9 - House of Passage Brazil

Students find out about street children in Brazil and communicate with them via email. They create posters on UN Convention of the rights of the child, and they participate in a fundraising performance to raise money to donate to House of Passage. Download
 

English Y9 & 10 - How to get Published

As a basis leading to an individual piece of writing that will be published in a book of their class’s writing, students will hear from published writers and people involved in the publication industry about the writing process as well as their purposes and motivations. Download
 

NEW English Y10 Media Unit - Radio Shows

Students research a concept, carry out a related interview, write and record a radio script and edit their final podcast for publication on Radio Fresh FM. Download
 

English Y12 Media Studies - Film Festival

Students organize and manage public screenings of their films and the production and marketing of related merchandise. Download
 

NEW Health & Physical Education Y9

A report on a Nelson Education for Enterprise (E4E) initiative to link physical education swimming with community based facilities (local council run pools). At risk swimmers were identified in physical education classes through the Watersafety New Zealand "Swim4Life" award and encouraged to take up subsidised learn to swim programmes run by Swimmagic Swim School. Health & Physical Education Y10 - Advanced PE & NMIT Applied Fitness

Students work in partnership with NMIT Applied Fitness students to participate in a high performance sport, personalised training programme. Download

Health & Physical Education Y12 - Health Action Project

Students take action to implement their plan to enhance hauora/well-being by developing a shade area at school. Download
 

NEW Languages Y10 - French - Setting up a Wiki with a school in France

Students interact with a group of a similar age from a school in France via the internet (WIKI). They converse and write about their school life using technology as a medium for communication i.e. podcasts, and video (webcam). Download
 

Languages Y10 - Maori Place Names

Students research the meanings of Maori place names and words to support local company Imagenation, in their production of indigenous art. The students planned and managed a successful art exhibition to promote and sell Art Reo for Image Nation. Download
 

Languages Y10 & Y11 - German Community Festival

Students practice their German with native speakers, learn more about the history of German settlers in the Upper Moutere area and make and share German food. Download
 

Mathmatics Y9 - Creating Maths Games for Special Needs Education

Students examine ways of teaching basic mathmatical concepts and produce games appropriate to 15-18 year old Special Needs students. Download
 

Mathmatics Y10 Statistics - Shoppers Count for NZPI

In partnership with local valuers, students undertake a count of pedestrians (shoppers) in the Richmond shopping areas of Queen Street and Richmond Mall, and analyse the collected data using statistical calculations and graphs. Students later receive feedback from the Valuers as to the commercial relevance of the data. Download
 

NEW Science Y9-11 - Environmental / Horticulture

Students set up and manage a sustainable tree nursery, also later planting and working on planned environmental regeneration projects in the region. Download
 

Science Y10 - Forces & Motion

Students experience learning through road safety and accident investigations. Police provide support and equipment to investigate speed, friction and forces. Students present their related findings of an accident investigation to Police experts and receive feedback. Download
 

Science Horticulture Y12 - Growing a Business

Students form a small ‘business group’ and invest $10 each aiming to make a monetary profit through a horticultural enterprise of their choosing. Download
 

Social Sciences - Psychology Y12 Interviewing in the Real World

Students contribute to the Nelson Tasman Arts Strategy and develop their interviewing skills. The experience proves valuable for their upcoming NCEA research projects. Download

Students investigate a community issue by following the research process and reporting the outcome to the community groups most concerned. Download

Students approach a local business or organization offering to produce a print or electronic product that could be used to promote the types of services or products that they provide. The decision-making model will include students planning and investigating a range of options, selecting an option, designing a solution and producing a solution. Download

Students set up and run a small clothing alteration business. Download

Transition Education Y11 - Health & Safety

Students interview a selected workplace and identify employee rights and responsibilities. They complete a hazard identification sheet and design a resource that communicates what employees need to be aware of to ensure a safe working environment.  Download
