Nelson Marlborough Seafood Cluster

The Seafood Cluster has a vision of creating a renowned forum for seafood education, research and technology, bringing together New Zealand's best seafood educators and scientists in both formal and informal processes, linking these with seafood companies and support industries to create sustainable commercial development.
 

To achieve this the Cluster is involved in a number of key activities:

• Through support from NMIT and the Seafood Industry Training Organisation a study on the training and education needs of the Seafood Industry was carried out in 2004.
• A Research Focus Group has been undertaking work on identifying national and international linkages between Cluster members.
• The Employment Focus Group has identified a number of initiatives related to employment within the industry, which are being addresses in parallel with the Work Force Development Strategy.
