Education for Enterprise
In Nelson
E4E is about developing enterprising attributes in our youth, achieved through the following outcomes:
- Students having an appreciation of the importance of business in Nelson and who have the skills, attitudes, and desire to participate in it.
- The Nelson Community see that students are actively contributing to the well-being of the community.
- Nelson Schools work in partnership with community and businesses to embed enterprise in the culture of the school, and display it in the leadership, teaching and learning, and all areas of school life.
- Nelson students leave school equipped with enterprising attributes that empower them to stand tall as New Zealanders, seize opportunities, overcome obstacles, and make a positive contribution to their community.
Business and Other Community Partners Information
With close business and community support, students can learn by applying skills and knowledge gained at school into real world environments, and also experience career opportunities available to them. E4E provides an opportunity for the Nelson business sector to have greater input into a school’s curriculum, and expose students and teachers to the requirements of today’s workforce.
Examples of E4E that are currently happening include: designing company logos, posters and promotional material, researching products, a range of projects where students collect and analyse data, run a restaurant for a night and local business people going into schools to give feedback on students’ business plans.
Examples of E4E with other community partners include: students involved with rest home activities, environmental projects and fundraising events.
